The
Citywealth Powerwomen Awards 2016 that took place a couple of days ago at the
Grange Tower Bridge Hotel, in the City of London, was a resounding success. The
event, which celebrates individuals and companies that support female leadership and
diversity within the wealth management sector, is now in its third year, and is gaining more and more importance each year. The growing number of men who attended the event was noted - their involvement indicating an increasing commitment to giving equal chances to women and recognising their achievements.
The gala kicked off with a champagne reception and then the guests sat down for a fine three course dinner.
It was still time to celebrate Burns Night , so the popular bagpiper was back, giving a hint of Scottish flavour to the event. The trophies were handed out by bestselling author Frances Edmonds - voted Britain's most entertaining female after-dinner speaker in a survey by The Times - who was hosting the evening. Co-host and roving reporter was popular Sky Sports presenter David Garrido who interviewed some of the winners, directly transmitted onto the large screen.
Charity partner Taylor Bennett Foundation, whose aim is to prepare more ethnic graduates for the PR industry, was represented by Heather McGregor, best known for her FT “Mrs Moneypenny” columns.
Karen Jones, Editor and CEO of Citywealth, said of the winners: “Citywealth conducted interviews with all the women shortlisted in the contest over a six month period. We discovered a vivacious, thoughtful and self assured group who will prove to be role models for women coming into industry. It was a pleasure to meet and speak with them and a pleasure to support their work with these accolades. Congratulations to all the women who competed in the Powerwomen awards 2016.”
