Stephanie Shirley is a successful IT entrepreneur turned
ardent philanthropist and workplace revolutionary.
She set up a
software house that pioneered new work practices and changed the
position of professional women (especially in hi-tech) along the way.
She went on to create a global business and a personal fortune from
nothing.
More recently her focus has been on philanthropy and in 2009/10 she
served as the first ever national Ambassador for Philanthropy.
Dame
Stephanie, known as Steve, is one of the 100 most powerful women in
Britain. She took on a man's name when she first started her business in IT, in order to be taken more seriously.
